As part of Western tradition, it is quite common for a man to gift an engagement ring to his ‘would be’ as a mark that they are engaged to be married. Women often have a way of flaunting their engagement rings and with good reason on account of the fact that an engagement ring is indeed so special and is a mark of the mutual love and affection that the couple shares. Engagement rings are bought after a great deal of due diligence as well as effort on the part of the man, as it is an expression of love.

There has been a trend in recent times, where not only the man, but even the woman gifts her fiancé with an engagement ring. These are called male engagement rings and the practice is slowly gaining prevalence in the US as well as Canada. Engagement rings are known to contribute a great deal to the coffers of jewelry and gem companies.
